Summer Time Fun and Learning at Good Shepherd Church!
We had a great summer with our Summer Soccer Program and Vacation Bible School (VBS). Thank you to all the volunteers and participants for being part of our community this summer.
VBS ran for five Tuesdays in July and we had a lot of fun Surfin’ through the Scriptures! Each evening had a different theme: Be Obedient--Be Kind--Be Forgiving--Be Bold--Be Believing. Using scriptures from the Old and New Testaments we shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the children. From week to week we averaged about 20 children who not only learned a lot but also had a whole bunch of fun.
Summer Soccer--2008 This summer approximately 25 kids every came every Thursday from end of June to the beginning of August to have some fun on the soccer field. Before the soccer activities started we shared a meal with the kids and their families. After the meal it was off to the soccer fields to learn some new skills and to pratice some of their old skills and then onto some soccer games. At the last meeting for the summer we celebrated with delicious cake (wonderfully made in the shape of a soccer ball by Peggy Watson) and ice cream.
Breakfast with Santa! Watch for the date of our 2008 Breakfast with Santa. Last year our breakfast with Santa was a great success. We had a great turn out of visitors and volunteers as just a few shy of 90 people participated. Kids heard the Christmas story told by Pastor Mike, had a chance to meet Santa and then shop for their families at our Santa's helper gift shop. We raised $265 for the Jubilee Christmas Shop at Broadway Christian Parish--a ministry which helps make Christmas real for struggling families.
Interested in renting our facility? Our building is available to rent for a meeting or banquet. We have seating space for approximately 200 people in rows of chairs and about 150 using our round tables and chairs. We also have some smaller rooms if you don't need a lot of space.
